Lawton celebrates 124th birthday with festivities and main event at city hall tonight 

Lawton, OK – Lawton, Oklahoma, marked its 124th birthday with a series of mini celebrations leading up to the main event scheduled for the evening of July 31, 2025.

The city government thanked everyone who participated in the earlier festivities.

Tonight’s main event will be held at Lawton City Hall in the Wayne Gilley Auditorium. Doors open at 5 p.m., with a special cake-cutting ceremony featuring the oldest and youngest residents of Lawton at 5:30 p.m. The presentation and awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

Attendees can also look forward to a trivia session highlighting interesting facts about the city’s namesake, General Henry Ware Lawton, who stood over six feet tall and served with the Union Army during the Civil War from 1861 to 1865.

Lawton officials encouraged residents to join the celebration and take part in the evening’s events.
