Governor Stitt praises $19.4 million in savings as DOGE-OK leads push to eliminate waste and modernize state government

Oklahoma – The Division of Government Efficiency has identified approximately $19.4 million in savings through its ongoing collaboration with state agencies, according to a recent update from the office.

The savings reflect the state’s broader initiative to streamline operations, eliminate waste, and modernize outdated practices.

“DOGE-OK is proving that Oklahoma can do more with less,” said Governor Kevin Stitt. “Oklahomans expect their government to be lean and spend dollars responsibly. Great work is being done to eliminate waste and deliver better services to Oklahomans.”

DOGE-OK works directly with agencies across the state, reviewing efficiency-focused projects that are submitted through a formal process.

Projects are only included in reported savings if they were launched in 2024 or 2025 and have already yielded measurable results. All approved initiatives are made publicly available on the DOGE-OK website, offering transparency into how taxpayer dollars are being better managed.

Examples of recent cost-saving measures include:

– The Department of Human Services renegotiated wireless service rates, saving $10 per device each month. This move is expected to save the agency approximately $780,000 annually.

– The Teachers’ Retirement System transitioned to paperless courtesy mailings, cutting printing and postage costs by more than $100,000.

– The Interstate Oil Compact Commission completely eliminated its state vehicle fleet, generating an estimated $15,000 in annual savings.

In addition to cost reductions, modernization efforts have led to a dramatic decrease in manual labor. State employees have eliminated roughly 67,000 hours of manual tasks by adopting automated processes—allowing agencies to remain agile and efficient without the need for additional budget increases.

DOGE-OK’s mission aligns with Governor Stitt’s broader push for a more accountable and efficient government. With more projects anticipated in the months ahead, the division continues to serve as a central hub for tracking and promoting innovation throughout Oklahoma’s public sector.
