Lawton, OK – Lawton Fire Department crews contained a grass fire near 38th Street and Gore Boulevard, with firefighters remaining at the scene to conduct overhaul operations and monitor for remaining hot spots.
Mutual aid crews that assisted with the response were released from the scene after the fire was contained.
Lawton Fire officials warned residents that the area could continue producing smoke for some time as crews work to extinguish remaining hot spots and complete overhaul operations.
Valley View Fire Department, Geronimo Fire Department, Pecan Creek Fire Department and Comanche Nation Fire Department assisted Lawton firefighters during the response.
The Lawton Fire Department thanked its mutual aid partners for their assistance and continued willingness to help the community during emergency responses.
Residents were urged to use caution around the area while Lawton Fire crews remained on scene.
