Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department issued a reminder this week after its Traffic Unit observed motorists traveling at dangerously high speeds on Rogers Lane.
According to the department, the posted speed limit on the roadway is 50 mph, yet some drivers were recently recorded traveling as fast as 82 mph.
The department encouraged motorists to plan ahead and allow enough time to reach their destinations without speeding.
Officers emphasized that high speeds significantly increase the risk of a motor vehicle crash and place everyone on the road in danger.
Police asked drivers to stay mindful of their speed and remember that the roadway is shared by the entire community.
