Woman who cIaims her partner strangIed her repeatedIy untiI she Iost consciousness severaI times that day, sprayed her with a chemicaI irritant, and was reaching for a firearm at the moment she fired at him, kiIIing the man, is charged

Missouri – A Missouri woman was arrested by deputies from the Sheriff’s Office after they responded to reports of a fataI shooting at a home in Missouri. The young woman, 20-year-old Jesie, now faces charges including first-degree murder, first-degree domestic assauIt, armed criminaI action, unIawfuI use of a weapon, and related counts.

Deputies say they found a 30-year-old man inside the residence, deceased from a gunshot wound. The woman was present and reported the shooting to officers. Investigators immediately began an inquiry into what led up to the shooting.

During questioning, the woman told Missouri authorities that the man had attacked her multiple times before she retrieved a firearm and shot him. She claimed the victim had become angry, choked her repeatedly (until she lost consciousness three times that day), and even shot at her. In her version, she said she grabbed the pistol from a chair and fired one shot, believed it had missed, then reloaded and fired again.

The woman alleged that the victim had peper-sprayed her and was reaching for a shotgun at the moment she fired. She showed officers alleged markings on her body consistent with assault, though investigators said no visible markings consistent with choking were found on her neck.

Police conducted a search of the residence. They did not find pepper spray or evidence of its odor. In addition, she later denied involvement of a shotgun despite earlier mention of it in her statement. A gunshot residue test was also performed on the victim’s right hand; results were not consistent with someone who had just fired a weapon.

Investigators noted inconsistencies in her statements. Responding deputies reported that she did not always mention all the claims (such as pepper spray or a shotgun) during the interview. The combination of contradictory statements and physical evidence became central to the case as the investigation progressed.

She is being held at the county jail under a $1 million cash-only bond. The victim has not been publicly identified as of the latest reports. Future legal proceedings will determine whether the state can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant’s actions constitute first-degree murder rather than self-defense or another lesser offense.
