City of Lawton to temporarily close 11th Street at Wolf Creek Bridges for emergency repairs

Lawton, OK – The City of Lawton will temporarily close 11th Street at the Wolf Creek Bridges, just south of I-44, starting March 31, 2025, to allow for emergency repairs. The decision comes after an inspection by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) identified structural concerns requiring immediate attention.

To ensure public safety and facilitate the necessary work, the city determined that closing the bridges was the best course of action. As part of the project, the roadway will be expanded, and the vehicle tonnage limit will be increased, improving both capacity and safety once the bridges reopen.

Repairs are expected to be completed by March or April 2026, depending on weather conditions.

Detour Information:

– For traffic heading south on 11th Street: Take I-44 south from 11th Street, exit at Geronimo/Frederick (Exit 30), and turn right onto OK-36.
– For traffic heading north on US-277 from Geronimo: Turn left onto OK-36, take the northbound I-44 on-ramp, then take Exit 33 to 11th Street.

Detour signs will be posted, and drivers are encouraged to follow all signage and allow extra travel time during the closure. The city appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this essential infrastructure project.
