LAWTON, Okla. – A structure fire broke out on the evening of January 28 at a vacant home located at 910 SW Park Ave. Authorities received the initial call around 6:30 p.m., with a Lawton Police Department (LPD) officer alerting emergency crews to the scene. Lawton Fire Department (LFD) crews quickly responded to the blaze, working to control the flames.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered hazardous conditions, including a live electrical wire down on the ground, adding to the danger as they battled the fire. Despite the severity of the flames, the structure, while severely damaged, was not occupied at the time of the incident.
Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Fire officials have not yet determined whether the fire was accidental or intentional.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and have urged residents to stay clear of the area as crews work to fully extinguish the fire.
