Lawton, OK – After more than two decades of dedicated service, Angela Spurlock, the director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), has announced her retirement, effective March 1.
Spurlock, who has served as the OSBI director since 2022, made the announcement today, bringing an end to a distinguished career that spanned 23 years within the agency. Her decision to step down marks the close of a notable chapter in Oklahoma’s law enforcement history.
In a statement released earlier today, Spurlock expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead the OSBI, saying, “While it is my time to transition from my current role, I remain committed to ensuring that distractions do not overshadow the tremendous work that is done by the OSBI team all across our great state.”
Under Spurlock’s leadership, the OSBI has grown and strengthened its ability to protect and serve Oklahomans. Throughout her tenure, she focused on enhancing the agency’s capabilities and expanding its reach to ensure the safety and security of the state’s residents.
During her time as director, Spurlock also worked to improve the agency’s collaboration with local and federal law enforcement agencies, further solidifying the OSBI’s role as a central force in Oklahoma’s law enforcement community.
Spurlock’s retirement will mark the end of an era, but her legacy of service and dedication to the safety of the citizens of Oklahoma will continue to resonate within the OSBI and beyond.
As the agency prepares for a leadership transition, Oklahomans can expect continued dedication from the team she leaves behind, which remains committed to its mission of protecting the state’s communities.
The process for selecting a successor has not yet been announced.
