As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, several city and county services in Lawton will be temporarily suspended to allow employees to observe the holiday.
The City of Lawton has announced that its offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, including Lawton City Hall. In addition, Lawton Public Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, and will remain closed on both Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday. The library is set to reopen on Saturday, December 2.
For residents who rely on the city’s waste management services, the Lawton Solid Waste Division will not be collecting residential, commercial, or industrial refuse on Thanksgiving Day. However, refuse that would normally be collected on Thursday will instead be picked up on Friday, and Friday’s routes will be delayed until Saturday, December 2. The Lawton Landfill will also be closed on Thursday but will reopen for normal operations on Friday.
Comanche County offices have not yet issued specific closure notices, but citizens are advised to check directly with relevant county departments for any service interruptions during the holiday period.
Local residents are encouraged to plan ahead as these closures may affect routine city services and public facilities.
