Volunteers marked storm drains and removed litter during Stream Clean Saturday

Lawton, OK – Two volunteers, Jennifer and Kimma, took part in Stream Clean Saturday despite rainy conditions, marking 24 storm drains downtown and collecting a 33-gallon bag of litter.

Organizers reminded the public that only rain should flow into storm drains, noting that substances such as oil, paint, yard waste, soap, pet waste, and trash can harm local creeks, wildlife, and community health.

The effort highlighted how small actions on city streets can have a lasting impact on the environment.

A larger Stream Clean event is scheduled for October, and organizers encouraged community members to volunteer.
