Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department reported that a pre-release inmate who left a designated work site early Thursday morning has been located and returned to custody.
According to an update issued at 1:30 p.m., Donald Compton was taken back into custody after authorities had earlier requested the public’s assistance in locating him.
Police said Compton, who was assigned to the Lawton Community Corrections Center, was last seen around 4:00 a.m. at Wrights Diner, where he was scheduled to work. Management at the diner advised that he left for a break and did not return.
Compton was described as a Black male standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing around 208 pounds.
Authorities had asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Lawton Police Department or Crime Stoppers of Southwest Oklahoma. No additional details about the circumstances of his return to custody were immediately released.
