Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol congratulated Major Jack Choate on his retirement after more than 39 years of dedicated service to the state.
Choate began his career in 1986 with the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety as an emergency communications officer at the Oklahoma City communications center. In 1991, following in the footsteps of his father, he joined the 46th OHP Academy and was assigned to Troop L in Rogers County.
Over the years, he advanced through the ranks, serving as Lieutenant in 2005, supervising multiple troops and turnpikes, and later being promoted to Captain in 2021. He reached the rank of Major on February 1, 2024, serving until August 31, 2025.
His contributions extended beyond titles, including roles as a Troop L reconstruction team member, LEDT instructor, Field Training Trooper, and field training supervisor. His work impacted countless troopers and citizens, reflecting his commitment to leadership and service.
With his father and brother also serving in law enforcement, the Choate family has contributed nearly a century of service to Oklahoma. He will continue his public service as Director of Fleet Operations with the Department of Public Safety.
