New restrooms open at Lake Lawtonka’s East Campground as part of improvement plan

Lawton, OK – Campers and lake-goers at Lake Lawtonka’s East Campground now have access to brand-new restroom facilities, marking a significant milestone in the city’s Lake Improvement Plan.

The City of Lawton announced the grand opening of the upgraded bathrooms on May 9, signaling a boost in comfort and convenience for visitors ahead of the busy summer season. The facilities are located in the East Campground area, a popular site for outdoor enthusiasts.

The project is part of a broader effort by the city to enhance the quality of life and recreational experience around its lakes.

“The wait is over,” the city declared in its announcement, encouraging residents and tourists to explore not just the new amenities but also the natural attractions nearby, including Medicine Park and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.

Lake Headquarters staff are available to answer questions Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at (580) 350-2188. For weekend visitors, a Campground Fee Collector is on duty Saturdays and Sundays during the same hours.

With the improvements now in place, officials hope more people will take advantage of the lake’s offerings while enjoying upgraded facilities and the scenic beauty of southwest Oklahoma.
