Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department is reminding residents to take precautions as many families prepare to travel during Spring Break.
Police encouraged travelers to lock their vehicles and secure their property before leaving home. Officials advised residents to remove valuable items from plain view inside vehicles and place them in the trunk or out of sight if they cannot be taken along.
The department also urged travelers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their trips, noting that busy roadways and crowded airports can lead to delays. Leaving early can help reduce stress and allow drivers to focus on traveling safely.
With increased travel expected during the break, officers reminded motorists to remain alert, avoid distractions, and be courteous to other drivers on the road.
The department said it hopes everyone in the Lawton and Fort Sill community enjoys a safe and pleasant spring break while following simple safety practices.
