Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department announced its annual Tree Lighting Event, which marks the beginning of the holiday season for the department and the community.
Each year, local high school groups join officers to create hand-crafted ornaments that decorate the department’s lobby tree.
The ornaments are later displayed on other trees throughout the building the following year, continuing the tradition of spreading holiday cheer.
The department said the event serves as an opportunity for families, students, and officers to come together, celebrate the season, and strengthen community connections.
This year’s gathering also comes with a playful warning, as the department shared that the Grinch may make an appearance in an attempt to steal some holiday spirit.
The event is scheduled for December 4, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lawton Police Department at 100 SE Railroad. The department encouraged residents to bring their families, friends, and holiday cheer.
