Lawton, OK — On the morning of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the Lawton Police Department’s Traffic Unit temporarily shut down one lane of Interstate 44 East to continue an investigation into a recent injury accident.
The closure lasted from approximately 7:00 to 8:00 a.m., reducing eastbound traffic to a single lane during the morning commute.
Officers were on scene gathering evidence and documenting details related to the crash.
The department had advised motorists ahead of time to plan accordingly and expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation.
“Thank you for your patience as we worked to complete this part of the investigation safely,” officials said.
