Lawton, OK – More than 270 residents came together at Shepler Park over the weekend for “Let’s Get Moving, Lawton,” a city-organized wellness and community engagement event that featured fitness activities, safety demonstrations, and a celebration of local agriculture.
Mayor Booker officially kicked off the event, which included a community race and family-friendly attractions. Lawton Fire Department provided a smokehouse demonstration, while Lawton Police ensured safety along the race route.
The city’s Streets Department also played a key role in securing the area by managing road closures to accommodate participants.
The Lawton Farmers Market added to the festive atmosphere with its annual Tomato Festival, drawing attendees to shop locally and enjoy fresh produce.
The event was made possible through collaboration with several community partners, including the Lawton Public Library and the Comanche County Health Department, both of which offered resources and support throughout the day.
City officials praised the event as a success and a demonstration of Lawton’s growing emphasis on health, community, and local partnerships.
