Lawton, OK — Firefighters from the Lawton Fire Department, joined by Sgt. Bill Maxson of the Lawton Police Department, took part in the OKC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Wednesday morning.
The annual event honors the 343 firefighters and other first responders who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Participants climb the equivalent of 110 stories, symbolizing the World Trade Center towers.
Organizers said the climb serves as a living tribute, ensuring the memory and sacrifice of first responders remain at the forefront more than two decades after the attacks.
For those who take part, each step is made in remembrance and respect.
