Governor Stitt announces new agreement with U.S. Department of Homeland Security to enhance Operation Guardian and bolster state law enforcement efforts

Oklahoma – Governor Kevin Stitt has announced that a new memorandum of agreement is set to be finalized between the State of Oklahoma and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

This agreement will enhance the implementation of Operation Guardian, enabling state troopers and agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) and Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) to collaborate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the arrest and removal of criminal illegal aliens from Oklahoma.

Governor Stitt emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “President Trump is fulfilling his promise of a secure border and removing those who are a threat to public safety.”

He highlighted the role of Oklahoma’s law enforcement infrastructure, which will now work in tandem with federal resources to uphold the law and ensure the safety of residents.

Under the new agreement, ICE will delegate enforcement authority to Oklahoma law enforcement agencies, allowing them to join ICE task forces. These agencies will be responsible for investigating and apprehending individuals deemed to be significant threats to public safety.

With this partnership, Oklahoma joins a select group of states that have entered into such agreements, further strengthening the state’s commitment to law and order.
