Lawton officer praised for life-saving response to motorist experiencing stroke 

Lawton, OK – On March 2, 2026, Lawton Police Department reported that Officer Denning noticed a vehicle stopped in the roadway with an occupant who appeared to have fallen.

Upon checking on the driver, Officer Denning quickly recognized the person was experiencing a serious medical emergency, later confirmed to be a stroke. He immediately called for emergency medical services and went further by alerting the individual’s family at a nearby home.

According to the department, the family’s home cameras showed the person had arrived at about 7:14 a.m., and Officer Denning located them just minutes later at approximately 7:25 a.m., highlighting the critical timing of his actions.

The individual was transported to Oklahoma City for specialized care and is now recovering back in Lawton.

The Lawton Police Department praised Officer Denning for his attentiveness, compassion, and decisive action, noting that his quick response helped ensure life-saving care when every minute mattered.
