Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division conducted a focused safety operation over the weekend at Tenkiller Ferry Lake to protect boaters and lake visitors amid increased summer activity.
Troopers made contact with 145 vessels and 479 individuals, issuing 164 warnings and 11 citations related to vessel and personal flotation device (PFD) violations. Among these, six citations were for various vessel infractions, and five citations were issued for failure to properly use PFDs.
One individual was arrested on charges of Operating a Vessel Under the Influence (OUI). Additionally, troopers provided 12 vessel assists to boaters in need over the course of the weekend.
Officials praised the majority of boaters for their responsible behavior and expressed gratitude to the Tenkiller community for its hospitality.
The Highway Patrol encourages all lakegoers to prioritize safety by wearing life jackets and following boating regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
