Lawton, OK – In a powerful show of solidarity, the Lawton community came together to honor Se-ual Assault Awareness Month and officially recognize the rebranding of the Lawton Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.
The event was a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to ensure that survivors receive the care and support they deserve, while also holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
The keynote speaker for the event was Janet Chappell, Oklahoma’s Statewide SANE Coordinator, whose words resonated deeply with attendees and reinforced the importance of continued advocacy for se-ual assault survivors. Chappell’s remarks highlighted the progress made in addressing se-ual violence, while underscoring the need for ongoing commitment and support.
