Lawton Man Arrested in Fatal Crash That Killed 65-Year-Old Woman

Lawton, OK – James Walker has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that resulted in the death of 65-year-old Vickie Sue Hart. Walker, 32, is facing charges of first-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence (DUI), and inattentive driving following the January 11 accident on US-277.

According to law enforcement, Walker was driving southbound on the highway when his vehicle veered into the opposite lane, striking another car head-on. Walker’s vehicle then overturned and landed upside down. Hart, who was in the other car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say a blood test taken from Walker revealed that he was under the influence of illegal drugs at the time of the crash. Additionally, it was reported that Walker had been distracted by his cell phone moments before the collision. Authorities believe these factors contributed to the deadly crash.

Walker was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being booked into the Comanche County Detention Center. He is currently being held on charges related to the fatal accident.

If convicted on all counts, Walker could face a minimum sentence of four years in prison. The incident remains under investigation by the Lawton Police Department.
