Turner Turnpike reopens after semi-truck crash near Bristow causes temporary closure

Oklahoma – A crash involving a commercial motor vehicle temporarily shut down eastbound lanes of the Turner Turnpike (I-44) near mile marker 200, just east of Bristow, on Sunday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes and resulted in the closure of the highway while crews worked to clear the scene. Westbound traffic was not affected and remained open throughout the incident.

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority provided a series of updates as emergency responders and tow crews worked to remove a semi-tractor trailer that had crashed into the center median. At approximately 9:55 p.m., officials reopened one eastbound lane, allowing traffic to slowly resume while recovery efforts continued.

By 10:21 p.m., all eastbound lanes were fully reopened.

During the closure, eastbound traffic was diverted to State Highway 66 at mile marker 197 in Bristow, with motorists allowed to re-enter the turnpike at mile marker 203 in Kellyville.

Officials warned drivers to expect delays in the area as congestion cleared, and reminded motorists to drive cautiously in work zones and during cleanup operations.

The cause of the crash has not been publicly disclosed.
