Trooper stops two drivers for extreme speeding in separate incidents

Oklahoma – Two drivers are facing hefty fines after being clocked at dangerously high speeds in separate incidents over the past two nights, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Trooper Devin Walbridge (#728) stopped a driver going 116 mph in a 65 mph zone on State Highway 33 near South 225th West Avenue in Creek County. The following night, he stopped another driver traveling at 122 mph in an 80 mph zone near mile marker 211 on the eastbound Turner Turnpike.

Each driver was issued a $449 ticket for speeding and a $512 ticket for reckless driving. Both also received warnings for improper passing.

One motorist claimed they were late for work, while the other said they were tired and heading home. Troopers, however, stress that no excuse justifies such excessive speed.

“These kinds of speeds can be deadly—not only to the drivers, but to everyone else on the road,” the Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated. “Obey the speed limits, or pay.”
