Lawton, OK – City officials announced that construction on SW 38th Street is moving into its next phase as crews complete work on the northbound lanes and shift operations to the southbound side of the roadway.
According to the City of Lawton, southbound SW 38th Street between W Gore Boulevard and SW Dr. Elsie Hamm Drive will be closed to all through traffic from Jan. 1 through Feb. 1, 2026. No southbound travel will be permitted during that time.
Drivers traveling southbound are advised to use SW Sheridan Road as a detour while construction is underway. Officials said the closure is necessary to allow crews to complete roadway improvements safely and efficiently.
City officials encouraged motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution near the work zone as the project continues.
