Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports personal record high as driver caught going 118 mph on Kickapoo Turnpike en route to Chicago

Oklahoma – A state trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol set a personal record last Friday after pulling over a vehicle traveling 118 mph in an 80 mph zone on the Kickapoo Turnpike.

Lieutenant Richard Losurdo, badge #127, made the stop during a routine patrol. According to the OHP, the driver’s only explanation for the excessive speed was that they were trying to get home to Chicago.

“There is no excuse for speeds like this,” the patrol stated in a post early Tuesday morning. “They are extremely dangerous and will at the least cost you a ticket; at the most, your life or the life of someone else.”

Authorities continue to emphasize the risks of high-speed driving, especially on turnpikes and interstates. While the incident did not result in an accident, the OHP hopes it serves as a reminder that speeding remains one of the leading contributors to fatal crashes in the state.

The identity of the driver has not been released.
