Lawton, OK — Nominations are now open for the prestigious 2025 Mildred Ramsey Community Innovation Award, which recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant strides in improving the lives of families and children within their communities. The award, which honors innovation, compassion, and community leadership, is being coordinated by the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth (OCCY) and the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s Family Support & Prevention Service.
The award is designed to spotlight those who inspire change while addressing the urgent needs of families and children, particularly through creative and resourceful problem-solving. As part of the nomination process, candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of the challenges faced by children and families, a commitment to building community trust, and a dedication to making a meaningful, lasting impact.
Annette Wisk Jacobi, executive director of OCCY, emphasized the importance of recognizing individuals who contribute to strengthening society. “Nominations highlight the spirit of innovation and compassion that strengthens the fabric of our society,” she said. “This award is a way to honor the remarkable contributions of community leaders who dedicate their efforts to transforming lives.”
Lisa Williams, training coordinator for Family Support & Prevention Service at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, echoed these sentiments, stating, “The Mildred Ramsey Community Innovation Award recognizes those who approach challenges with resourcefulness and purpose, inspiring us all to find creative solutions and make a meaningful impact.”
Nominations will be accepted until February 20. The selected awardees will be honored for their dedication to addressing immediate needs while inspiring lasting change in their communities.
