Lawton, OK – City officials and community members gathered earlier today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the official opening of the new playground at Lee West Park.
Despite cold temperatures, residents turned out to mark the milestone and welcome the new play space, which city leaders say is part of a larger vision for the park. Work is ongoing on a splash pad at Lee West Park, with plans for it to open later this spring.
The City of Lawton extended thanks to the Lawton Police Department, Lawton Fire Department, and CrimeStoppers of Southwest Oklahoma for their involvement in the event, helping make the celebration a success.
Officials also recognized local voters for approving the PROPEL2040 initiative, which funded the project, and thanked the Lawton City Council for prioritizing investments focused on children and families.
