Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department recently celebrated the accomplishments of local students who completed its Junior Citizens Police Academy (JR CPA), a hands-on program designed to educate youth about law enforcement operations and foster positive relationships between officers and the community.
Throughout the week, participants explored various divisions within the department and gained behind-the-scenes insight into the daily duties and responsibilities of law enforcement professionals.
From learning about investigations to understanding patrol procedures, the students were given a comprehensive look at the inner workings of the police department.
“Congratulations to the JR CPA members,” the department said in a statement. “Thank you for being part of the program, and great job!”
The JR CPA is part of the department’s Community Oriented Policing (COP) initiatives and is aimed at providing educational opportunities that build trust and awareness among young residents.
For those interested in future JR CPA sessions or other community programs, the department encourages contact with its COP Division at 580-581-3569. Updates and announcements about upcoming events can also be found by following the Lawton Police Department on social media.
