Lawton Fire Department responds to reported smoke odor at nursing facility

Lawton, OK – The Lawton Fire Department responded Sunday evening to the Willow Park Nursing Facility following a report of an electrical smoke odor inside the building.

Fire officials said a full structure fire response was dispatched out of an abundance of caution.

Upon arrival, crews investigated and determined the source of the odor was an overheated motor from a personal item belonging to a resident.

The issue was addressed quickly, and no fire was found. Authorities confirmed that all residents and staff were safe and that the situation was fully resolved without further incident.

The Lawton Fire Department said the response highlights the importance of promptly reporting potential hazards to ensure the safety of residents and staff.
