Altus, OK – The Altus Fire-EMS Department recently conducted its hiring process, with candidates undergoing a series of physical and written tests to qualify for the next phase.
Applicants first had to pass a written exam before advancing to a timed 1.5-mile run.
Those who completed the run in 13 minutes or less then faced additional challenges, including walking a 20-foot beam while carrying a hose, carrying a 125-pound weight for 100 feet, completing 25 push-ups without stopping, finishing 35 sit-ups in two minutes, and climbing a ladder to the top.
Six candidates successfully passed each stage and advanced to the interview process. The department commended all participants for their efforts.
